sweetsHometown favorites. They always have a certain charm about themselves, don’t they? The best thing about the ones that last 20 years or longer is that you know that you will receive quality food and service as soon as you step inside. That’s the main reason’s why places like Swett’s and Pie Wagon stay open so long. Take a glance into a few restaurants around the Nashville area that have been around for quite some time.

Do any of these restaurants stir up any old memories? Have you ever heard of some of them in your lifetime?

Enough is Enough!

bildeI’m tired of the cold. I want it to go away and not come back for a very, very long time. The best thing that I can say about the Winter months right now is that they are no flying insects buzzing around. Well, no bees. But enough is enough! I am continually counting down the days until March 20!

Wondering why this winter has felt colder than most? That’s because it has been. The last time it was this cold, Music City USA was fighting the chill in corduroy bell-bottoms. This winter’s temperatures were the coldest since 1978-79.

That’s over 30 years ago! Three’s Company was still airing new episodes! I, for one, didn’t need the repeat. I can appreciate record breaking feats, but this is one that could’ve stayed put.

I can’t wait until I can enjoy the great outdoors again without fear of frostbite!

How have you felt about the cold weather? Have you loved it, or are you ready for Spring?

madea t180I hope you have your tickets! Tyler Perry’s play, Madea’s Big Happy Family is playing at the Orpheum Theater tonight through Sunday, the 28th. This is Tyler Perry’s first stage performance in five years.

I am uber excited! I absolutely love Madea! She’s one of those people that you can’t help to love. Though maybe not to the same extent as this gun-toting, wise-cracking grandmother, I think there’s a Madea in every family! That aspect gives everyone something to relate to.

Madea plays are almost guaranteed to send you a message, make you cry, make you think, and most definitely make you laugh. ;) I think it’s a good idea for Perry to take a break from Hollywood for about a year, and rediscover why it is that he began the character of Madea in the first place.

The show starts at 8 and is open to everyone of all ages.

Are you going to the show? Have you ever seen a Madea play, or movie?

Valentines20DayNow, with Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, many couples are still trying to figure out what restauarant (if any) they will grace their presence with. Now, I’m all for creativity and being different, and that’s exactly what a popular fast food chain is planning for the romantic holiday.

The White Castle in Nashville plans on catering especially to the Valentine’s Day crowd on Feb. 14. This is the first time that the Nashville location will be taking reservations for Valentine’s, and they plan on throwing in the works! Linen table cloths, balloons, candles, flowers, and even a digital photograph; it’s sure to be very romantic…as long as you don’t get any ketchup on your shirt.

I don’t know about this one folks. But each is entitled to their own opinion. Would you go to White Castle on Valentine’s Day for your romantic rendezvous?
