With such wonderful weather ahead, who would want to spend it inside? There are so many wonderful things to partake in!

Of course the Nashville Film Festival will bring in the numbers. For the kiddies and the kiddies at heart, you have the Eakin Elementary School putting on it’s annual carnival on campus at 2500 Fairfax Ave. It’s $5 per child and $15 max per family.

Tonight, Cheekwood opens its door from 7-10 pm for its annual Highballs and Hydrangeas fundraiser. It’s $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Rain or Shine. You may also want to attend the Sounds’ home game opener against the Iowa Cubs at 7:05.

There’s plenty more to choose from; the hard part is choosing which to do first!

What are you doing this weekend?

You don’t have to be Irish to take part in this green holiday! Just don your green (so you don’t get pinched ;) ) and head on down to downtown Nashville to partake in the many clover infested parties the local bars and pubs have to offer!

I heard that McCreary’s Irish Pub & Eatery has an excellent Guinness Chocolate Cake that is just the treat to please the Irish in us all on this day. :)

Another good choice would be Mulligans. The theme of “Good Times, Good Food, Good Spirits” definitely holds true for this charming little pub in downtown, especially on St. Patrick’s Day. Tonight the Def Leprechaun Band and Joe Byrne and Trooperstown, will offer live music for the establishment to get your in the mood to dance an Irish Jig or two. They serve some traditional Irish foods, as well as foods with Irish-y vocabulary to make you feel as if you in the Isle of Green. :)

Do you know of any other parties going on?

sweetsHometown favorites. They always have a certain charm about themselves, don’t they? The best thing about the ones that last 20 years or longer is that you know that you will receive quality food and service as soon as you step inside. That’s the main reason’s why places like Swett’s and Pie Wagon stay open so long. Take a glance into a few restaurants around the Nashville area that have been around for quite some time.

Do any of these restaurants stir up any old memories? Have you ever heard of some of them in your lifetime?

madea t180I hope you have your tickets! Tyler Perry’s play, Madea’s Big Happy Family is playing at the Orpheum Theater tonight through Sunday, the 28th. This is Tyler Perry’s first stage performance in five years.

I am uber excited! I absolutely love Madea! She’s one of those people that you can’t help to love. Though maybe not to the same extent as this gun-toting, wise-cracking grandmother, I think there’s a Madea in every family! That aspect gives everyone something to relate to.

Madea plays are almost guaranteed to send you a message, make you cry, make you think, and most definitely make you laugh. ;) I think it’s a good idea for Perry to take a break from Hollywood for about a year, and rediscover why it is that he began the character of Madea in the first place.

The show starts at 8 and is open to everyone of all ages.

Are you going to the show? Have you ever seen a Madea play, or movie?

Valentines20DayNow, with Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, many couples are still trying to figure out what restauarant (if any) they will grace their presence with. Now, I’m all for creativity and being different, and that’s exactly what a popular fast food chain is planning for the romantic holiday.

The White Castle in Nashville plans on catering especially to the Valentine’s Day crowd on Feb. 14. This is the first time that the Nashville location will be taking reservations for Valentine’s, and they plan on throwing in the works! Linen table cloths, balloons, candles, flowers, and even a digital photograph; it’s sure to be very romantic…as long as you don’t get any ketchup on your shirt.

I don’t know about this one folks. But each is entitled to their own opinion. Would you go to White Castle on Valentine’s Day for your romantic rendezvous?
